I. Program of Emergency Shelter: They offer shelter for 90 days for the survivors of domestic violence. During this time, they offer (1) Intervention in a crisis, (2) Individual orientations and group meetings, (3) Legal access and intervention in housing cases, (4) Legal advocacy, (5) Orientation, medical attention, and medicine, (6) Food, (7) Coordination of inter-agency services, (8) Program of educational services and Social work for children, (9) Necessary psychological attention. |

But in the more than three months since Hurricane Maria swept across Puerto Rico two weeks after Irma — causing widespread devastation and long-lasting power outages, especially in the central mountains where Hogar Nueva Mujer is located — the shelter has been left to simultaneously support the women fleeing violence whom it normally houses, while also providing aid to its own employees and neighbors who have been without basic services since the storm." |
